RESEARCH PROJECTS

  • Education in the Network Society; September 2005 – to present.  Traditionally education is the societal and institutional effort to bring youngsters to learning, a job and loyalty. The network society rests upon the more dynamic relationships among persons who all function in several networks at the same time. It results in accepting the notion of heterarchy rather than hierarchy; One person can be an authority in one sense and an early beginner in another. As a consequence it stimulates societies to accept that there is no such a thing of absolute leadership; We can only contribute from our specific blend of experiences, expertise and temperaments. Education in the networked society needs to coach young persons to let them develop blends of skills, memorisation and problem solving. The essence is that learning is accepted to be a highly individual process that needs a large variety of situations and a focus on the growing of one's self-organisation and efficacy.
  • Social Media for Learning. August 2007 – Present; Interpersonal- and collaborative relationship as been acknowledged as vital for learning from the early beginning. Social media are an extrapolation of this awareness: Opening the mind and the lust to identify yourself with a person you admire become more and more visible as youngsters proceed in schooling careers.
  • Web-based Communities and Social Media; 2004 – Present. Social media up to now are volatile and transient; its members tend to be rather pragmatic and not enough altruistic. Before "gathering on the web" reveals a "sense of community" a much more genuine social sentiment needs to emerge. The International Journal of Web-based Communities addresses this topic and publishes answers so far.
  • "Feeling Younger by getting older" July 2012; The main project’s objectives: - to promote the creation of a culture of active ageing as a lifelong process; - to ensure that rapidly-growing population of people who are currently in their late 50s and over would have opportunities for employment and active participation in social and family life, including through volunteering, lifelong learning, cultural expression and sports; - to involve young generations in these activities. The project aims to create the cooperation between generations in order to draw up a list of sharing ideas through Europe. During the 2 years of project implementation, project partners will collect good practice examples of ICT tools for a better ageing, volunteering and active European remembrance in their countries which can be transmitted to other places as well as compare their local backgrounds in the field of employment, health care, social services, adult learning, volunteering, housing, IT services and transport for aged people. Project activities will allow partners to generate some guidelines to teach the elders a conscious approach to ICT resources and to give them an opportunity to have a dialogue with younger generation using Open Space Technology. By the end of the project E-book of guidelines will be published and shared with stakeholders
